Violinist Callie Brennan and pianist Laura Kargul made their duo debut in 2025 by carrying on the tradition of the annual Valentine’s Day Concert, a popular Maine event introduced and established over a decade ago by the Lantz-Kargul Duo.

Callie, a former student of Ronald Lantz, also recently filled the Portland String Quartet position vacated by his retirement in 2022.

Their Meetinghouse program will feature Brahms' Sonata No. 1 in G Major, a work infused with tender romance, written to comfort his beloved Clara Schumann as she was caring for her youngest son Felix on his deathbed. Also on the program: Debussy's "Clair de lune" and songs by Liszt and Fauré. The duo's versatility will be highlighted by the "Graceful Ghost Rag" by William Bolcom, a Piazzolla tango, and a George Shearing jazz arrangement of "Over the Rainbow."
