MTNA National Student Competitions

The 3-tiered MTNA National Student Competitions in performance and composition are the most successful and prestigious student competitions in the country. Each year, thousands of students compete for top prizes and national recognition. These competitions recognize exceptionally talented young artists and their MTNA affiliated teachers in their pursuit of musical excellence.

The MTNA National Student Competitions begin with state level participation each fall. Winners from each state then compete virtually in a regional competition during January. Each regional winner then travels to the MTNA national conference in March to compete live for a national title.

MTNA State Level Competition Information

• Application deadline: September 11st at 3PM. EST

• Maine will accept video submissions only. There will be no in person competition.

• Videos must be submitted by October 25th at 3PM EST

• You should hear back with results and comments within a week.

• All application information and submissions should go through the MTNA national competition site, it will then be filtered down to the state level.
